Picture a Friday evening in your Dubai Marina apartment. The AC hums, the family gathers for a movie night, and every eye lands on the same wall: the one holding your television. In most UAE homes, the TV unit is the visual anchor of the living room, and in 2026 it is doing far more than holding a screen.
From compact apartments in Jumeirah Village Circle to spacious villas in Arabian Ranches, residents are rethinking the humble TV stand. Cable clutter, dusty heat, entertaining guests during Ramadan and Eid, and the need for smart storage are all shaping what people buy. Here are the trends we see across UAE living rooms this year, and how to choose a unit that suits your lifestyle.
Trend 1: Floating, Wall-Mounted Units for Compact Apartments
Space is precious in many Dubai and Sharjah apartments, and wall-mounted TV units are the answer. By lifting the cabinet off the floor, you keep the room feeling open, make cleaning easier, and create a sleek, gallery-like look. They also pair beautifully with robot vacuums, which are increasingly popular across the Emirates.
- Best for: studio flats, one-bedroom apartments and narrow living rooms
- Look for: sturdy engineered or solid wood, concealed cable routing and a wall shelf for decor
- Tip: confirm your wall type before installation. Our team handles this with free professional installation across the UAE.
Trend 2: Natural Textures, Cane and Rattan
Warm, organic materials are everywhere in UAE interiors right now. Cane and rattan panels bring softness and a boutique-hotel feel to a living room, and they work especially well in villas in Dubai Hills and Saadiyat Island where neutral palettes and natural light are the norm. Rattan doors also allow air to circulate around electronics, which is a practical bonus in warm climates.
Pair a rattan-fronted cabinet with woven baskets, a ceramic lamp and a single statement plant for a calm, layered look. If you love a particular finish, customisation is available, so you can match the unit to your existing furniture.
Trend 3: Closed Storage That Hides the Clutter
Between gaming consoles, set-top boxes, soundbars and family board games, living rooms collect a lot of gear. Units with a mix of drawers and doors let you hide the mess while keeping a few open shelves for display. In the UAE, closed storage also helps keep dust away from electronics, which matters when sand-laden winds roll through.
- Choose drawers for remotes, chargers and cables
- Choose doors for consoles and media boxes
- Choose open shelves for books, frames and a few treasured objects
Trend 4: Statement Pieces with Modern Finishes
Many homeowners now treat the TV unit as the hero piece of the room. Faux marble tops, integrated LED lighting and clean Italian-inspired lines turn a functional item into a focal point, especially in Downtown and Business Bay apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows. A modern unit with warm LED glow also creates a lovely mood for evening entertaining.
How to Pick the Right Size for Your Space
Whatever the style, getting the proportions right makes the biggest difference. Use these quick rules before you buy:
- Width: the unit should be at least as wide as your TV, ideally 10 to 20 cm wider on each side.
- Height: the screen's centre should sit roughly at eye level when you are seated.
- Depth: measure your soundbar and set-top box, then leave a little space behind for ventilation.
- Finish: match the wood tone to your flooring or sofa legs for a cohesive look.
